Two teams from the Garden State fought through tough competition last month on the courts of Saratoga Springs, NY, and returned home with the fruits of their labor: the USTA Eastern 4.0-3.5-3.0 Tri-Level Championships.
The teams – who played out of the Washington Township Tennis and Fitness Club in New Jersey – were led by captains Christina Michie and Mike Domlija. They were among eight teams from across the section that competed in the event, held April 28-29.
Domlija, whose team came in second at the Championships last year, credited his players and thanked his supporters in the team’s victory this year.
"We played as a team throughout the season and had great support from our friends and families," said Domlija. "Most of them came to Saratoga to support us and to enjoy a weekend. Every player on this team made a contribution and I believe it was our team-oriented philosophy that helped us win this championship."
For Michie, it was her team’s second consecutive Tri-Level Championship. And it was the passion of the entire team that led to their title.
"The driving force of our victory is the tenacity of all of our teammates," said Michie. "Hard work, dedication and most importantly good friends and people is what victory is all about!"
