Tennis is a sport for a lifetime, and at USTA Eastern, we strive to grow tennis at every level with a goal of making the game accessible to everyone. Tennis can be adapted to fit the needs of the player. Shorter courts can be used to teach small children the basics; slower, low compression balls allow those with mobility challenges to get back in the game; and the two bounce rule for wheelchair players let’s those serious athletes compete at all levels including international and Grand Slam tournaments.
USTA Eastern supports people with special needs or circumstances through its recreational adaptive tennis programs and competitive wheelchair players through USTA Wheelchair Tennis.

Wheelchair certification
USPTA is committed to quality teaching of all players and understands the need to fill the void in the wheelchair certification area. This program opens up new teaching opportunities for professionals and encourages the growth of wheelchair tennis.
The wheelchair certification allows teaching pros to work with wheelchair players and instruct other teachers on this sport.
The certification includes a Certification Training Course, and a private lesson and written exam. Current USPTA members need only pay a fee for the certification; there are no additional annual dues. Nonmembers pay an application fee and annual dues.
