The New England/Mid-Atlantic (NEMA) Invitational Tennis Tournament, held at the McDonogh School in Maryland, provides the best competition for high school tennis teams on the East coast. Held on April 28-30, 2006, the invitational tournament brought together twelve schools from five different states.
Beacon was the only public school and the only New York City school at the tournament. The tournament included Blair Academy (NJ), Chestnut Hill Academy (PA), Gilman School (MD), the Gunnery (CT), the Hill School (PA), the Lawrenceville School (NJ), Loyola Blakefield (MD), McDonogh School (MD), the Montclair Kimberly Academy (NJ), the Peddie School (NJ), St Andrew's Episcopal School (MD), and Wyoming Seminary (PA).
This year, the Beacon School in New York City won the competition with a total of 28 points; the McDonogh School finished second with 22 points. In fierce competition, Beacon came away with victories in first and second singles, and doubles. For tournament draws and results,

The Beacon tennis team used the momentum from the NEMA win to take the New York City Public School Athletic League (PSAL) championship on May 15, 2006 behind the outstanding singles play of Mike Moore, Milo Hauk, and Greg Streat.
