Sophomore Amanda Muliawan from Ramapo High School, the #3 seed with a 19-0 record and Freshman Tina Jiang from Gill Saint Bernard’s School, the #4 seed with a 17-0 record, friends and Eastern Zonal Nationals teammates battled for 2 hours and 45 minutes. In the end, Amanda Muliawan won this hard fought match 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.

The winners' circle had familiar faces, though there were no repeat winners, as 17 year old Christina McHale swept the USTA Girls' 18 National Championships at the Berkeley Tennis Club and Claremont Resort & Spa. Last year's winner, Gail Brodsky, didn't go home empty handed as the picked up third place in the singles with a straight set victory over Beatrice Capra.
