POINTS PER ROUND RANKING SYSTEM for 2009
A Points Per Round system is used to calculate rankings. Using a similar method as the USTA for national rankings, points will be awarded based on rounds reached.
FORMULA
The amount of points awarded for winning a Regular Tournament:
Winner: 125. (1st place)
Second place: 95 (Finalist)
Third place: 80
Fourth place (semifinalist): 65
Quarterfinalist: 40
Round of 16: 25
Round of 32: 15
Round of 64: 6
Consolation wins: 5
Participation: 1
The amount of points awarded for winning a Sectional Championship:
Winner: 250 (1st place)
Second place: 190 (Finalist)
Third place: 160
Fourth place (semifinalist): 130
Quarterfinalist: 80
Round of 16: 50
Round of 32: 30
Round of 64: 12
Consolation wins: 10
Participation: 2
A tournament must have at least six players to be a sectional. If less, points will be awarded for a regular tournament.
The amount of points awarded for winning an Innovative one day tournament (1 per region):
Winner: 60
Second: 45
Third: 38
Fourth: 30
Quarters:18
Round of 16: 11
Round of 32: 7
Round of 64: 3
Consolation Wins: 2
Participation: 1
Points will be earned for winning by default. Points will not be awarded for byes.
BEST OF
To avoid making the rankings solely an attendance test, a "Best of..." formula will be used. Point totals will be calculated based on a given number of tournaments in each division.

WOMEN
Open: 4
25: 3

75: 2

MEN
Open: 6
25: 3
30: 3
35: 4

In the Men’s 75, 80, 85 divisions all tournaments with at least 6 players will be a Sectionals.
All Women’s tournaments with the exception of the Open Division will be considered Sectionals if the draw is at least 6 players.
Any tournament IN ANY DIVISION that does not have at least 6 players will receive a regular point tournament status instead of a Sectional.
Please note: DOUBLES and NTRP TOURNAMENTS
All divisions for doubles will be the best of 3 with no sectionals
NATIONAL ELEMENT:
To avoid penalizing players who compete in National championships, a player
is allowed to use their best National Championship result for local rankings. (This does not include Category 2 National events.) If the National result is not reflected in a player record it is the responsibility of the player to advise the section. It is the responsibility of the player who wants their National Category I tournament counted to contact Sonia Sader at 914-697-2389 to remind her to enter the tournament.

NO MINIMUM TOURNAMENTS
There will be no minimum amount of tournaments needed to qualify for an Eastern ranking. If a player earns points in any Eastern tournament they will be ranked in that division.
TIES
Ties in the top10 of each division will be broken by head-to-head results if applicable.
