College Tennis

* National Varsity Collegiate Page *

At USTA Eastern, we support not only our junior players who excel to the top sectional, national, and international rankings, but we support you, our coaches at colleges and universities within the Eastern Section. The Eastern Collegiate Tennis Committee was formed to help you to and is headed by chairman Joe Arias. As a result, USTA Eastern Section has designed programs on a sectional level to lead to this overall goal.

  • College Spotlight: Cory Parr, Wake Forest University -  Senior Cory Parr of Jericho, N.Y., is one of the top men's tennis players in Wake Forest University history. Currently ranked No. 1 in doubles with partner Steven Forman and No. 21 in singles in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, Parr posted his 100th career win last month, becoming the third winningest singles player in Wake Forest history and only the fourth player to ever achieve the feat in the Demon Deacons’ men's tennis program.

  • Eastern College Showcase Day - Every year, hundreds of nationally ranked high school tennis players are recruited to play for the top college teams, with generous athletic scholarships and the potential of becoming professional tennis players.

But for the thousands of other high school tennis players, there are many opportunities to play in college that go unnoticed.

On Nov. 8, the United States Tennis Association Eastern Section will host its 23rd Annual College Showcase Day, giving students from across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut a chance to learn about the wide range of opportunities in college tennis. The showcase will be held at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens and include a Round Robin tournament for high school seniors.

  • Where the Eastern Juniors are Playing - A number of Eastern Juniors are playing at colleges and universities within the Section, not to mention around the country. Click here to view an updated list of the high school class of ’09.

  • College Scholarships - Each year, USTA Serves awards scholarships to deserving youngsters who have participated in United States Tennis Association (USTA) and other organized youth tennis programs.
